Sea Lettuce

Pacific Harvest

  • Sea lettuce is the 'salad greens' of the sea vegetables. It is a leafy, vibrant dark green with a distinctive flavour and aroma. It can often seen on the beaches or free floating on sea water. Fresh in sea water, its appearance is similar to tissue paper, and in Japan, it is known as 'green laver' or Ao-nori.

Harvested and enjoyed worldwide, it is most common in temperate and colder seas. Pacific Harvest's sea lettuce leaves have been harvested from the wild in Brittany, France, and air dried to preserve all their nutrients. The colour of sea lettuce may vary with the seasons from pale green/yellow to a bright rich green.
  • Sea Lettuce has a distinctive grassy & peppery flavour. The leaves are used to wrap, line or garnish food. The flakes make a wonderfully different salad sprinkle and as a tasty and nutritious condiment for a variety of dishes.

Popular in the Far East, Chile and the West Indies, sea lettuce is used in a wide range of soups & salads. This seaweed specie is closest to the land plants and is found closest to the shore.
