Sacha Inchi Extra Virgin Oil

Matakana Superfoods

  • Our Matakana SuperFoods Sacha Inchi Oil, also known as Inca Inchi Oil ("Almond of the Incas"), has a perfect balance of omega 3, 6 and 9 essential fatty acids (EFAs). It is one of the highest plant-based sources of Omega 3s in the world (48% Omega 3, and 84% total EFAs), making it a fantastic safe, healthy, mercury-free, sustainable and compassionate alternative to seafood and fish oil capsules. Omega 3 can't be produced by our bodies and therefore must be consumed. Omega 3's are known for their role in encouraging healthy skin, hair, nails, joints, and brain function; improving post-workout recovery and cardiovascular function; increasing metabolism and promoting fat-burning; and preventing heart disease, high blood pressure, cancer, and arthritis.

Sacha Inchi oil is one of the most nutritious, healthy oils on the planet and as well as its fantastic Omega profile, is also filled with antioxidants and contains all 8 factors of Vitamin E. It is one of our favourite additions in a healthy plant-based diet, and a great alternative to your Chia Seed Oil, Flaxseed Oil and Hemp Oil. Our Sacha Inchi oil is raw, unrefined, extra virgin, and cold pressed to maintain the maximum amount of nutrients. What's more, the Inca Inchi brand of Sacha Inchi Oil has recently won gold medals at the European Food Fair in France for best new culinary oil. Its mild, nutty flavour is rapidly becoming a favourite amongst foodies around the world.
  • Sacha Inchi oil can be used in much the same way as you would use extra virgin olive oil, avocado oil or flaxseed oil – in salad dressings, vinaigrettes, pestos, drizzled on vegetables, through pasta, or used as a dip for freshly baked bread with dukkah. You can also add a tablespoon to your favourite smoothie for an extra Omega hit. Or make our favourite salad dressing by mixing 2 Tablespoons Sacha Inchi Oil with 1 Tablespoon apple cider vinegar or lemon juice, a pinch of organic sea salt, black pepper and some fresh chopped herbs. See our Recipes tab for more ideas.

You can also use as a nourishing skin and body moisturiser, or massage oil.

Note: Always use Sacha Inchi Oil raw, it will lose its beneficial Omega 3 properties if cooked with. Once opened keep in the fridge.

  • "I love drizzling Sacha Inchi oil over my salads. It has a delicious nutty flavour and is a great healthy replacement for olive oil."

    - Pat Pussell (Sydney, Australia)

"My new favourite Omega oil! I used to use flaxseed oil and hemp seed oil to get my omegas instead of fish (which is high in mercury and can be very dangerous when you're pregnant). After trying your Sacha Inchi and Chia Seed Oils though I've totally converted over, the flavours are so much more delicious than flax and hemp oil, which leave a little to be desired in the taste stakes!"

  • Matakana SuperfoodsMatakana SuperFoods is a New Zealand-based leader in the research and marketing of new and novel foods with unique qualities and super nutrients to support health and well-being. Their goal is to bring to the market the latest high-quality, super-nutrient functional foods, snack foods and cosmetics.

While extracts of various foods have been used in supplements for many years, a new movement away from supplements and towards whole Superfoods has arisen, and promises to offer greater benefits to health through the premise that the synergistic interaction of the nutrients gained from natural wholefoods has more to offer than one or two components being extracted and put into a tablet. Often the balance, ratio and type of nutrients found in wholefoods leads to superior assimilation and absorption by the body. There is a renewed belief that eating wholefoods (and particularly wholefoods with super-nutrient qualities) is of greater benefit than simple supplementation with individual extracts.
